Colorado Town Prepares for Legalization Vote

Local group holds Wednesday (10/28) event to announce endorsement by local elected official and rally supporters for marijuana vote


BRECKENRIDGE, CO -- As state and national focus grows on marijuana reform, a high-profile Colorado tourist destination, Breckenridge, prepares to vote to remove criminal penalties for adult marijuana possession. Sensible Breckenridge, the local marijuana reform group, will hold a campaign event and rally on Wednesday (10/28) to highlight this vote and to announce the endorsement of the reform measure by Breckenridge City Councilman, Jeffrey Bergeron. **Councilman Bergeron, along with sign-waving supporters, will be available for photos.**

"During America's war on drugs I've been a conscientious objector," said Councilman Bergeron. "Particularly, I've always felt that our nation could make better use of its money, cops and prison-space then to mess with stoners."

Councilman Bergeron will be speaking about his support for the measure and will be joined by supporters on Wednesday at the Blue River Plaza in Breckenridge. Bergeron's endorsement joins a chorus of support for the measure including endorsements by the Summit Daily News (see editorial here) and Fmr. Colorado State Representative and Breckenridge resident, Gary Lindstrom.

Measure 2F was placed on the ballot when over 1400 local supporters signed a petition supporting the reform measure. Measure 2F will remove criminal penalties from the Breckenridge Town Code for the private possession of up to an ounce of marijuana by adults 21 and older. Election day is November 3. Early voting started last week and will run until October 30th.
