More than twenty of Crestone’s most talented artists open their studios at the base of the scenic Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Each location offers an intimate experience in art, gifts, food and conversations with the artists. Start planning now for one of the most beloved local events of the year. Follow the flags to each studio for fine art gifts and refreshments. This event is free to the public. Visit www.crestonestudiotour.com or contact 719.256.5252 for more information on the artist and a printable map.

Start your weekend with an evening of live music from Steve Storm at Shumei International Institute! Storm’s intricate finger style guitar is stunningly heart felt. The concert is Friday Dec. 4th at 7pm, $10 suggested donation and all proceeds benefit the artist. Please note that Shumei is not part of the tour on Sat. and Sun.

Crestone Artists Tour Directions
Crestone is located in the beautiful San Luis Valley only 3.5 hours from Denver and 3 hours from Santa Fe. Framed by the stunning 14,000-foot Sangre De Cristo mountains to the east and the San Juans to the west, with a scenic valley between them, you’ll find a place like nowhere else in Colorado.

To get to Crestone from Boulder/Denver and areas north: use google maps to get to highway 285 south past Salida to highway 17 south (to Great Sand Dunes). On highway 17, just after the town of Moffat, look for a small green sign that says “Crestone”; turn left (east) onto County Road T. Drive Road T until you pass the Baptist church. At the big white “Baca Grande” sign on your right, Camino Baca Grande is immediately on your right and straight ahead is a Kiosk pull off (a good place to get oriented and enjoy the view). From this area you will clearly see signs and flags directing you to the various studios open over the weekend.

From Albuquerque/Alamosa/Taos, use Mapquest to get to highway 17. Take highway 17 north, past Alamosa. Just before the town of Moffat, at the deserted octagonal building, turn right (east) onto Country Road T, toward Crestone. Follow directions above.

The tour is sponsored in part by Shumei International Institute and The Saguache County Tourism Council.
