The first-ever guidebook to Colorado’s best-kept secret, Durango Bouldering ($25, pineneedle.com), details more than 350 V0-to-V13s at five superb areas, including Sailing Hawks — aka The Secret Spot — and the recently discovered 071 Boulders. Southwest Adventures guide Ian Allison spent four years searching, sending, and documenting. He also interviewed the developers, and then probed the community about ratings, access, sit-starts, etc. “It’s the land that Sherman forgot,” says Allison. “We have some of, if not the best, bouldering in the state.” The 140- page, color-photo book color-codes problems by their difficulty and also highlights the must-dos.
