18th Annual Hueco Rock Rodeo: February 26, 2011
The 18th annual Hueco Rock Rodeo is happening on Saturday, February 26! So bring all your friends down to El Paso, Texas, for some great temps and amazing climbing! Pre-registration prices are $50 for men and $35 for women (girls get $15 off this year!). Day-of prices are $60 for men and $50 for women. This year’s special attractions: A new ‘Level Field’ format that eliminates the sandbagging and gives beginners as good of a chance to walk away with ca$h and goods as the pros!
Armenian First Ascent Open Festival: May 21-31, 2011
The Armenian First Ascent Open Festival was first held in July 2009. This festival, organized by local climbing club "Up The Rocks," is intended to develop the rock climbing culture in Armenia, while at the same time promoting climbing at the local rock formations through the development of new routes.
2010 Arc'Teryx Bozeman Ice Climbing Festival
The 14th Annual Arc'Teryx Bozeman Ice Climbing Festival will be held Dec 9-12 in Hyalite Canyon and the Emmerson Cultural Center and features a stellar line-up of clinics, slide shows, gear demos, and athletes. As always, our Women's Clinic features some of the best gals in the business with Majka Burhardt, Caroline George, Sarah Hueniken, Lilla Molner, Mattie Sheafor, and Emily Stifler teaching skills clinics.

Raleigh Rampage ABS Comp 2010
On November 20th, Triangle Rock Club (TRC), a public indoor climbing gym and fitness center, will be hosting their fall bouldering competition: the “Raleigh Rampage.” Any and all are invited to come play, compete, watch, or just hang around for the festivities. For bouldering veterans, this is the contest of the season. For beginners, the competition is a great introduction to a fascinating sport.

14th Annual Yank-N-Yard Climbing Comp, Stone Age Climbing Gym
The Yank-n-Yard has become a long standing tradition at Stone Age, and it has grown every year for 14 years running. This year will be bigger and better than ever with fresh holds, crazy features, an outdoor climbing zone, a huge prize raffle, and the largest cash purse ever seen in New Mexico. This year we are offering two levels of competition: Open and Citizens. There will be a men’s and a women’s category in each. The Citizens level will be subdivided into Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced categories.
Triple Crown Bouldering Series 2010 - Hound Ears Wrap-up
This past Saturday kicked off the first leg of the 2010 Triple Crown Bouldering Series at the Hound Ears boulders in Boone, North Carolina. Taking place within Hound Ears Club's gated golf-resort community, the access-magicians of Triple Crown get this normally-closed area opened to climbers once a year through participation in the Triple Crown bouldering competition.
Kurt Albert Memorial Service
A memorial service for Kurt Albert will be held on Oct 9 in Streitberg, Germany. In addition, a fund has been set up in Albert’s name that will be used to cover costs associated with Kurt’s death, with the remainder donated to one of the climbing causes in his local climbing area, the Frankenjura.
2010 REEL ROCK Film Tour
The fifth annual REEL ROCK Film Tour launching in September 2010 brings the best in climbing and adventure films to local audiences across the globe. REEL ROCK shows are spirited events where climbers and outdoors lovers come together to celebrate and sample the ultimate in adventure filmmaking. Prize giveaways, appearances by top climbers, and fundraising for non-profit organizations are always part of the party at REEL ROCK events.
10th Annual Flagstaff TRASH BASH
The 10th Annual Flagstaff TRASH BASH will be happening on Wednesday, September 8, 2010, and you know it will be raining booty. So mark your calendar, recruit/brainwash some friends, and head up to the summit to pick up trash, eat dinner, drink beverages, and walk away with the goods. The trash cleanup starts with the raffle sign-up around 5 p.m. (after work) at the Flagstaff Mountain Summit. To get there, go about three miles up Flagstaff Road, take a right on Flagstaff Summit Road, and drive to the Flagstaff Summit parking lot. Look for “The Stone Shelter” to the west of the lot.
2010 3rd Annual Pine Mountain Pull Down
Whatever you’re doing the weekend of October 8-10, cancel it. If you’re into remote locations, awesome and beautiful bouldering, meeting good peeps, watching awesome movies, and dancing to live bands, get yourself to the third annual Pine Mountain Pulldown. Situated about an hour north of Ojai and just about close to nothing lies the hidden bouldering jewel of California’s central coast.

HomoClimbtastic Trip to the New River Gorge
HomoClimbtastic returns to the New River Gorge for four extraordinary days of climbing and homo-socializing in the mountains of West Virginia. Boulder Premiere of 180° South: Conquerors of the Useless
On Thursday, July 15, 180° South: Conquerors of the Useless, will show at the Boulder Theater. The story follows Jeff Johnson as he retraces the epic 1968 journey of one of the most unique and prolific environmentalists of our time — Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard and his friend Doug Tompkins — as they travel 5,000 miles from California to Patagonia. His hope is simply to find unclimbed mountains and unridden waves in the spirit of his heroes.
24 Hours of Gunnison Glory Wrap-Up
“Do you know what it’s like to climb 24 hours straight, pitch after pitch on demanding, technical granite till your tips pink out, feet swell, and mouth dries up like the ass end of the Swahili? Well, let me tell you . . . er, actually, I only made it to hour 22.5 at the launch of the friendly new competition: the 24 Hours of Gunnison Glory, held at Hartman Rocks, west of Gunnison, Colorado. But even turning in our scorecards 1.5 hours shy of the finishing line, we came to know the experience. And the thing is, it’s a tough but extremely rewarding one.” This sentiment offered in 2009 by Matt Samet (former editor of Climbing Magazine) was and will always be an amazing summary of the 24 hours of Gunnison Glory, an Endurance Climbing Festival designed with everyone in mind.
Vibram Natural Games 2010
Vibram Natural Games will be back from the 24th of June to the 27th of June 2010 in Millau, the European outdoor sports capital. This year, the Gravity Trip, much more eclectic, will succeed the Roc trip. Besides a gathering at the Boffi’s cliff, there will be a bouldering contest on the Official Village (the event’s center). This year, novelties appear: For the cliff, Ultimate routes could be tried by all the competitors and not only by professional climbers.
Wrangle in the Triangle Bouldering Competition
It’s back, it’s bigger, and you must be there! On June 19th, Triangle Rock Club will be hosting the 3rd annual “Wrangle in the Triangle” Indoor Climbing Competition. With thousands of dollars in prizes and fun festivities planned throughout the day, we are looking forward to a rock’n good time. This year’s Wrangle will be a bouldering redpoint format with routes from V0 to V-Crazy. Climbers can register under youth, beginner, intermediate, and advanced categories. Come on out for the Triangle’s greatest indoor climbing competition.
Canadian Youth Climbing Nationals Wrap-up: June 4-6
Délire centre d’escalade in Québec City hosted the C.E.C. Youth Nationals this year on the weekend of June 4, 5, and 6. This year 123 young athletes took part – most of them travelling from Western Canada. The routesetters did an amazing job of separating the pack, and no Super Finals were needed. Thank you to everyone who was part of the routesetting crew. True North’s own Dustin Curtis flew to Québec to set routes, then dashed off to Vail, Colorado, to represent Canada in the IFSC World Cup Bouldering Competition at the Teva Mountain Games.
