Climb Up So Kids Can Grow Up Fundraiser
Hikers, Cyclists, Climbers and Runners will “Climb” September 20 and 21, 2008, to Raise Funds for AIDS Medications and Supplies. The American Foundation for Children with AIDS (AFCA) and the American Alpine Institute are teaming up again to host Climb Up So Kids Can Grow Up.
2008 Squamish Mountain Festival
The SQUMF is getting ready to thrill locals and visitors again this summer with an exciting mix of films, clinics, competitions and guest speakers: Dave MacLeod, Ed Cooper, Matt Maddaloni, Majka Burhardt, Sonnie Trotter, Micah Dash and Cedar Wright. The festival takes place at various locations around Squamish, BC from July 16 to 20.

Award Winning Blindsight Documentary Premieres in Boulder June 10-11
Join Global Explorers, Erik Weihenmayer and other cast members for the Boulder Theater premiere of the award-winning documentary film called Blindsight. The two night showing begins at 8PM on June 10th and June 11th. Erik Weihenmayer, the only blind person to summit Mt. IFSC Bouldering World Cup Coming to the 2008 Teva Mountain Games
The seventh annual Teva Mountain Games® will host the first IFSC Bouldering World Cup event on United States’ soil in close to twenty years, June 5-8, 2008 in Vail, Colorado. In partnership with USA Climbing and the Town of Vail, the Teva Mountain Games® was successfully awarded this World Cup climbing competition by sport climbing’s governing body, the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC).

2008 New River Rendezvous
The word is out rock climbers know how to throw a great party! May 16-18 the New River Rendezvous Festival kicks off the climbing season at the New River Gorge in Fayetteville, West Virginia. For years it was pretty low key, until 2007 when 1,200 climbers crashed the three-day event.

Last year the 5th Annual New River Rendezvous exploded. Attendance jumped 50% to around 1200 participants. “Everyone was great, patient with the lines and all, but we got dangerously close to blowing out the venue so it was time to reel it in,” stated event organizer Kenny Parker.

Steve Dieckhoff, the Boulder, Colorado, climber, artist, carpenter, and friend to many passed away on Saturday, March 15. Before he went, he had some time to mull over his final requests. A Memorial Service will be held at Eldorado Springs Canyon, Boulder, Colorado, at 5 p.m., Sunday April 6. All are welcome.
