Events Galen and Barbara Rowell Lecture Series and Award in San Francisco
On June 9, 2010, at the Mark Hopkins Hotel (One Nob Hill, San Francisco), David Breashears will pay tribute to his friends Galen and Barbara Rowell and discuss his work in filmmaking, mountaineering, and climate change. Breashears will also present The Rowell Award for the Art of Adventure to explorer and writer Craig Childs.
 
Rock Junior 2010 Report
If the first day of the Rock Junior was a marathon, the second couldn't have been more action packed, with climbing of course. Beneath the beautiful Garda Trentino sun and the legendary Lake Garda breeze, the Arco Climbing Stadium witnessed another day to be remembered. It all kicked off extremely early, and the first to arrive, as if they were in need of a good dose of climbing, were the teams of the Under 14 Cup.
 
Teva Mountain Games 2010 Climbing Events
The Vail Valley Foundation is proud to announce the climbing events for the 9th annual Teva Mountain Games, the nation's largest outdoor adventure event, which will return to Vail, Colorado, June 3 - 6, 2010. In addition to the amateur climbing competitions, Teva Mountain Games will host the IFSC Bouldering World Cup, the only World Cup event on U.S. soil.
 
24 Hours of Gunnison Glory - 2010
The goals of the 24HGG are to secure the future of climbing in Gunnison, CO and to offer climbers everywhere the chance to push their physical, mental, and spiritual abilities while climbing for 24 hours straight. On May 29-30, 2010 Colorado's own 24 hour endurance climbing festival (based on Arkansas' 24 Hours of Horseshoe Hell competition) will commence at the Hartman Rocks Recreation Area — a 8,000 acre precambrian granite playground.

Gunks Climbers Coalition to Host Waterworks Fundraiser
For nearly six years, the Mohonk Preserve and the Gunks Climbers Coalition have worked in conjunction with OSI and the Town of Rosendale to secure the purchase, transfer, and access to one of the Gunks most revered areas, the Waterworks Boulders. It finally seems that access is truly going to come to fruition soon enough, but your help is still needed. While the land purchase has been arranged, the management costs have not. And this is where the good of the people comes in.

2010 SCS Southeast Regional Championship Wrap-Up
On Saturday May 8, 2010, Urban Rocks Gym hosted the SCS Regionals Championship. This was the first competition of its kind in Chattanooga, and Urban Rocks was happy to support USA Climbing and the Sport Climbing Series. Emily Taylor, the southeast regional coordinator, worked in conjunction with Urban Rocks owners, Chris Gibson and Becky Robran, to put on the most exciting competition that we have had to date.
 
Melloblocco 2010
The seventh edition of the world's biggest international bouldering meeting took place last weekend in the picturesque val Masimo and val di Mello valleys, Italy. Although every weather forecast last week led to inclement weather during the weekend, the young and multi-colored international crowd of boulderers did not miss their appointment. There were more than 2,000 registered participants, and more than 3,500 people in the valley altogether.
 
The Northwest Collegiate Climbing Competition Series
The Northwest Collegiate Climbing Competition Series (NC3) has pioneered intercollegiate climbing, while demonstrating an increase in participation and recognition each year. This year’s events will be the largest to date with an estimated 1500 participants and spectators from around the northwest. The series allows college students to experience multiple levels of competitive sport while fostering growth in the climbing community.

The film features John Gil, the greatest boulderer of all time. Urban Rocks Gym Hosts Chattanooga’s First Indoor Sport Climbing Competition
On Saturday, March 27th, approximately two hundred people arrived bright and early to get checked in and ready for Chattanooga’s first indoor sport climbing competition. By 10 a.m. Saturday morning, Urban Rocks Gym filled with activity of at least six different climbing teams. Out of 77 competitors, some were already tied in getting ready for their first climb of the day, while the climbing teams warmed up with synchronized jumping jacks and a pep talk to get psyched about the competition awaiting them.

Fifth Annual HERA Climb4Life Metro DC
The 5th Annual HERA Climb4Life Metro DC, an ovarian cancer fundraiser benefiting the HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation, is planned for March 13–21, 2010 at several sites in the Washington DC area.
