Events John Bachar Southeast Tour - November 2008
In every sport there are men, myths and legends. In the world of rock climbing and free soloing, there is only one name that fits all three: John Bachar. One of America's most daring rock climbers is visiting the Southeast (Tennessee, Georgia and North Carolina) in November, 2008. While here, he will be giving several slideshows and Acopa Shoe Demos.
 
IX Festival de Boulder 2008
The IX Festival de Boulder, November 8-9, 2008, is a two day bouldering event held on natural rock (not indoor), in it's the 9th edition (2000-2008). This is the most important climbing event in Argentina held at the coastal boulders near Mar del Plata, several hours south of Buenos Aires.

The International Climbers' Meet Recap

Europe was well represented but it was gratifying to see climbers from Russia, China, Japan, Turkey, South Africa, Brazil and Australia there as well. 2008 Climb Smart
Friends of Joshua Tree will host the 11th annual Climb Smart gathering at Indian Cove group campgrounds from October 24 through October 26, 2008. This is the largest gathering of Southern California’s climbing community, featuring intensive clinics, gear raffles, food and top notch entertainment over the weekend.
 
Warriors Way SPORT Camp 2008
This training is specifically targeted to those climbers who want to learn or refine sport climbing skills, improve safety awareness, and gain a heightened degree of mental focus through applying the Warrior's Way program. New River Gorge (3 days) – October 24-26, 2008
 
Castleton Tower Adopt A Crag Event
Utah Open Lands, with support from the Access Fund and American Alpine Club, will host the first annual trail maintenance and baselands stewardship event at Castleton Tower on Friday, October 24th, Saturday, October 25th and Sunday, October 26th. The event is an official Access Fund Adopt-a-Crag event. It is made possible by Petzl’s sponsorship of the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour in Moab which will celebrate its fifth year anniversary this March.
 
Timy Fairfield Clinics and Training Camps - Fall 2008
Timy Fairfield will be offering six clinics and training Camps in October in the Michigan, New Mexico and Arizona areas. Gym Climbing, warm-up techniques, injury prevention, bio-mechanics, fundamentals of sport specific strength training, competition mental tactics, bouldering competition strategy, speed drills, movement techniques & skills, sport-specific power endurance fitness training, Heart Rate training, cross- training, video analysis and more!
 
The AAC's Craggin' Classic - Recap
The American Alpine Club and its industry partners pulled out all the stops for the first annual Craggin’ Classic. On October 9th Layton Kor provided the perfect lead-in to the festival, with the AAC and Neptune Mountaineering hosting his first slideshow in many moons. A packed house of 1,200 climbers filled CU Boulder’s Macky Auditorium for the kick-off event, enjoying tales from Kor’s remarkable climbing career.
 
New Paltz Climbing Film Festival
The 10th Annual New Paltz Climbing Film Festival, featuring the Reel Rock Tour, will be 7:30 PM, Saturday, October 11 (Columbus Day Weekend). Because the Studley Theater has been closed for renovations, we will be back at the Lecture Center, next to the library on the SUNY campus. Reel Rock has opened with sold out crowds in Squamish, Boulder, Durango, and Crested Butte.
 
NBC JEEP WORLD OF ADVENTURE SPORTS
Don't miss Dean Potter as he makes the first "BASE solo" (or FreeBASE) of the Eiger on NBC October 11 @ 2:30-4:00 PM ET. The entire 1.5 hour episode is hosted by Pat Parnell from the Eiger. Dean's climb was filmed by cinematographer Jim Hurst and photographer/mountain guide Beat Kammerlander. Produced and directed by Sender Films.
 
The Craggin' Classic
Coming to Golden, Colorado October 10-12, 2008 this major new climbing festival is presented by the American Alpine Club, and will feature Layton Kor (Guest of Honor), John Gill (’08 Underhill Award recipient), and Dave Turner (’08 Bates Award recipient). Climber-run nonprofit to hold benefit dance party at the b Side Lounge in Boulder, Colorado
Girls Education International, a nonprofit organization founded by Heidi Wirtz and Lizzy Scully, will be hosting a late-night dance party fundraiser at the hippest new club on the Front Range, the b Side Lounge Restaurant in Boulder, Colorado on Thursday, October 9, from 9:30 p.m. to 1:45 a.m.
 
2008 Neptune Mountaineering Horsetooth Hang - Recap
The 2008 Neptune Mountaineering Horsetooth Hang, held at Rotary Park in Fort Collins, Colorado, pulled off its annual bouldering festival this past Saturday, September 27 with a Western-themed flourish. Pink cowboy hats (on the guys), pigtails (on the girls), and cowboy boots of all types came together for a day of stewardship, community development, and a little competition.
 
24 Hours of Horseshoe Hell - 2008 Event Recap
On Saturday, September 27th, 200 climbers set off on a unique quest to lead as many routes as possible within a 24 hour time period on the bullet sandstone of Horseshoe Canyon Ranch, Arkansas. For the third year, this one-of-a-kind climbing event tested endurance, pain tolerance, and mental stamina as each team pushed it to the maximum in Recreational, Intermediate and Advanced classes.
