A Speed Climbing Competition on Russia's Mt. Elbrus (5,642 meters) will be held on September 9th, 2009 - Elbrus, the highest peak of Russia and Europe, is a well-known peak of the Caucasus. Its white-snow double-headed peak is beautiful not only as a geographical object, but also as a symbol of the high achievements, grand size, crystal pureness and triumph of its conquerors. Elbrus is located in 12 km from the Main Caucasus Ridge.  9th Annual Flagstaff TRASH BASH
The 9th Annual Flagstaff TRASH BASH will be happening on Wednesday, September 9th, 2009, and you know it will be raining booty. Angela Eiter from Austria has won her fifth Rock Master, Ramòn Julien Puigblanque his fourth. With these victories the two equal the records set by legendary climbers Lynn Hill and Francois Legrand. Champions at times move you. Never before has this been closer to the truth. Chris Sharma won the Salewa Rock Award and Kilian Fischhuber won the La Sportiva Competition Award - The Salewa Rock Award and the La Sportiva Competition Award were handed out in front of a packed crowd which went wild as the Jury's verdict for the climbing Oscars were announced; for the rock category the 17 international specialized magazines had chosen Chris Sharma, alias the King, while the competition category went to none other than Kilian Fischhuber. The nominations have been decided for the 4th edition of the Arco Rock Legends, scheduled to take place on September 4th, 2009 at Arco (Garda Trentino, Italy) on the eve of the XXIII Rock Master. The SALEWA ROCK AWARD and the LA SPORTIVA COMPETITION AWARD, the sport climbing Oscars, are up for grabs.  The 23rd Rock Master and 4th Arco Rock Legends
The 23rd Rock Master, the classic sport climbing competition for the champions, will take place on Saturday and Sunday, September 5-6, 2009, in Arco (Lake Garda, Trentino, Italy). The 4th Arco Rock Legends will prelude the event on Friday, September 4th with the Salewa Rock Award and the La Sportiva Competition Award, the sport climbing Oscars.  2009 Mountain Summit in Aspen, CO
Mountain Summit is a slimmed down version of the four day Mountainfilm in Telluride festival that will be held August 27-30, 2009 in Aspen, Colorado at the Wheeler Opera House. This year both Jim Whittaker and Ed Viesturs will be there, in person.  First Annual Tribute climb for Federico Campanini
On August 23, Federico Campanini's wife, Amber Christensen, as well as friends, colleagues and members of the climbing community, will climb Mt. Rainier as a tribute to Federico Campanini, a professional mountain guide, who lost his life in the recent tragedy on Mt. Aconcagua in January of this year.  2009 RIFLE MOUNTAIN PARK CLEAN UP DAY

From July 1-31, 2009 the ‘Arev’ (Sun) Armenian First Ascent Open Festival, organized by the Up the Rocks club, took place in five locations in Armenia: Hrazdan Gorge, Noravank Canyon, Hell's Canyon, Arpa Gorge and Garni Gorge. The aim of the organizers was to make accessible the unclimbed rocks and historical-cultural treasures in Armenia for climbers from other countries.  2009 Boulder International Fringe Festival

The Climbing Federation of Russia is happy to invite you to participate in the International Rock Climbing Festival on August 4-9, 2009, in Guamka, located in Russia's Krasnodar Region. 117 routes in 9 sectors have already been prepared and 20 new routes will be ready to the beginning of the Festival.  2009 Vaude Deutscher Bouldercup - Überlingen, Germany
The annual Deutscher Bouldercup, this year sponsored by the German companies Vaude and Edelrid, among others, was held in Überlingen, Germany on July 11, 2009. The outdoor competition saw some top bouldering competitors, including Kilian Fischhuber (an Austrian who wasn’t competing in an official capacity, for some reason) and the German Jonas Baumann, both of whom have won several World Cups.  2009 REEL ROCK FILMMAKING COMPETITION
