mountaineering event packed with an exciting and diverse schedule!
The IMS® is an international platform of information, communication and presentations dedicated to everything about mountains and alpine sports - and of course a real hot spot for mountain fans: Along with mountaineering legends like Reinhold Messner, a number of young talents will attend the summit meeting from November 3-8 in the Italian town of Bressanone/Brixen (South Tyrol). Many more top mountaineers like Stefan Glowacz have recently confirmed their presence at the IMS®. Mountain fans, climbers and outdoor enthusiasts can get their tickets to the summit event by contacting us at ticket@ims.bz, on our ticket hotline +39 345 4141868 or online at http://www.ims.bz/en/hotline.html.
At the IMS®, visitors will be spilt for choice between a comprehensive schedule packed with interesting meetings, presentations, specialist talks and sports competitions. The event will unite international mountaineering legends like Chris Bonington (GB), Steve House (USA), Ines Papert (D), Peter Habeler (A), Reinhold Messner (I), Hans Kammerlander (I), Stephan Siegrist (CH), Simone Moro (I) and many more in Bressanone/Brixen for an exciting exchange between extreme mountaineers and climbers, mountain fans and the media. On November 3rd, the event highlight will see the most outstanding mountaineers of the last 20 years, together with representatives of several mountain-related organisations and young climbing talents, open up the summit with the unique IMS® discussion round to talk about the developments in mountaineering culture.
In 38 individual events, the IMS® Talk & Congress offers information on a
wide range of mountain sports-related subjects: travel accounts, talks of the
world's mountaineering élite and a specialist convention on topics such as
"Safety in the mountains" and "Health issues in the mountains". As another
special feature, on November 6th the ArgeAlp (Working Community of Alpine
Regions) meeting will culminate in a much-anticipated discussion round entitled
"Our mountains: Marketing the mountains".
Our young visitors and climbing talents are in for a real thrill with the IMS®
Bouldering Festival in the Bressanone/Brixen Handball Gym: Four-times world
champion Kilian Fischhuber will compete against an equally strong international
bouldering élite in the IMS® Bouldering Cup 09. A more relaxed side of the
event will give our visitors a chance to meet their favourite mountaineer in
person on a hike in the Dolomites. Places are limited, so sign up early for the
IMS® Walk from Wednesday 4 to Saturday 7 November and secure your place
in one of the small hiking groups to explore Funes/Villnöss valley, Mount Plose,
the Odle/Geisler group and the Alps of Sarentino/Sarntal valley with the likes of
Reinhold Messner, Alexander Huber, Chris Bonington, Ines Papert, Peter
Habeler, Christoph Hainz, Steve House, Heinz Zak, Simone Moro, Stephan
Siegrist, Hans-Peter Eisendle, Maurizio Zanolla, Roger Schäli, Ines Papert and
Doug Scott.
Such an extensive schedule of activities and specialist events must of course be
accompanied by a matching outdoor fair: On five days, visitors will find plenty of
information on the latest trends and developments in mountain sports at the
IMS® Expo.
Every night, the event schedule will be rounded off with some "warming down" activities, for which the world's best mountaineers will meet in Bressanone/Brixen town centre. It was the organising team's aim to revive an old South Tyrolean tradition, according to which, in the past, mountain lovers used to regularly meet up in autumn and discuss experiences and mastered routes. From November 3-8 every evening at 8 pm IMS® visitors will get a chance to meet the world's best mountaineers and climbers in person and sit down for a chat with them in some of the many pubs and bars in Bressanone/Brixen.
The Mountain Festival on Saturday, November 7th, will be the absolute warming down highlight of the International Mountain Summit®: While indulging in some traditional chestnut roasting (Törggelen) and typical South Tyrolean cuisine, our visitors can exchange views and experiences of the week and once again rub shoulders with the mountaineering élite.
