An Odyssey of Discovery in World Rock Climbing
Journey to The Soul is Henry Barber’s worldwide quest for self-discovery in the rock-climbing world. Traveling recently to the spectacular towers of Meteora Greece where East German climbers like Dietrich Hasse pioneered bold routes he realized that his course through climbing was unique. Seeking out the holy grail of British gritstone and sea cliff climbs, and then traveling on to Australia where he honed his style in a blitz on Oz rock are two highlights. Some key climbs in the USA question our ethics at home. Finally the historic routes of Dresden East Germany excite the potential in each of us as these climbers often climb barefoot and without any modern protection.

About Henry Barber:
He has climbed in over 30 countries establishing first ascents in about 20 countries on rock, ice and alpine terrain. In the USA he was the first to establish 5.11 and or 5.12 in many areas all over the country. First free ascents and an ever increasing self imposed strict style were hallmarks of his climbing; as well as insatiable appetite for climbing up to 320 days a year and exploring new areas always.
