Living Journeys 10th Annual Summit Hike

Living Journeys is proud to present the “Summit Hike” on August 8, 2009 on Mt Crested Butte (12,162 ft). This year will be the 10th year that visitors and locals climb together to the summit of Mt. Crested Butte in honor, memory and in support of the people in their lives that have faced cancer. The event raises money every year to support the work that Living Journeys does in Gunnison County.
Living Journeys is a non-profit that provides financial support in the form of grants, group and individual therapy and resources to community members living with and affected by cancer. Money raised from the hike is an invaluable resource to people faced with cancer in our valley. It helps recipients pay medical bills and alleviate the stress of daily living expenses during their cancer treatments, in addition to providing free therapy for people affected in any way.
Join us on Saturday, August 8th at 8 am, rain or shine for a day filled with hiking, celebrating and community support! Participants can hike to the top of Mt. Crested Butte (12,162 feet), ride the lift, or just join us for our “Special Anniversary Celebration.” All the while you will be supporting and raising money for people in our community that have been faced with cancer. The registration fee for each participant is $50 ($10 for kids under 12) and includes the hike, a chair lift ticket, and the Special Anniversary Celebration starting at 11AM at the base of the Silver Queen lift. Come to the celebration and enjoy a barbeque, sundae bar, drinks, music, prizes, a raffle and a photo booth where you can view your professionally shot summit photos. Definitely bring the kids because we will have a bouncy castle as well as crafts and games to keep them entertained. If you would rather not hike, just come for the celebration ($25 ticket) and join us for this special day of community support and hope!
In addition, each hiker is encouraged to raise pledges. There are prizes for the top 3 fundraisers and the top fundraising team. We are adding a new prize this year for best costume! The hiker-raised pledges prove to be our primary source of funding and are greatly appreciated.
