NAVALOSA
For four or five years, a boulder meeting is organized in the center of Spain. Navalosa is a very rural, small village located under the rocky mountains of the “Sierra de Gredos.”
Each year a lot of boulderers colonize the village and dress up the fields with the different colors of crash pads. It's becoming the most popular event organized in Spain around climbing. This year it was pretty special; it became a Petzl Rock Trip, and for sure this allows to be even more popular.
The ancient habitants look patiently and very focused to us, because they want to understand why we are loosing our time in climbing those rounded granite stones in the most difficult way. "Hey guys what for are you doing that? Just for fun?! I have some good, fun work on my farm ..." they tell us glancing at our red eyes from last night's party.
The village usually has less than 200 habitants, but for this event the population increases up to 2,000 people. Many different tasty food smells mixes with the “plastics food bars”. In the center of the village square, the locals take out their barbecues to cook the chickens, lamb chops, eggs, sausages, and many other things.
