Erica Lineberry’s love for nature and the mountains took on a new twist in 2006 when she discovered the joys of rock climbing with a hired guide in Squamish on a rest day from a Whistler Ski vacation. She knew right away that she was hooked!

6/7/11 - After skipping last year's 'Vous because Cragbaby was still really new on the scene, we were back this year, this time as a family that was bigger (and I like to think C has made us better...) than before! The weather was great - the driest trip to the New we'd had in a really long time! We had a whole posse of friends that met us up there, ran into tons of folks we hadn't seen in a long time, and of course met lots and lots of new friends!

4/20/11 - “Do you take fewer risks in climbing now that you’re a mom?” If I had a dollar for every time someone has asked me this since Cragbaby entered on the scene… well, let’s face it: I wouldn’t be rich, but I would definitely be able to buy more $4 frappucinos at Starbucks! The funny thing is, I never really feel like I have a good answer for this question. I feel like the “correct” answer is, “Yes, the responsibility of raising a little person has made me less risky of a climber.”

3/10/11 - Now that our little Cragbaby is about to turn 1 in just a few weeks, I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting over the past year. I realized that by the time C celebrates his first birthday, he’ll have logged 31 days at the crag, 10 multi-day trips, along with innumerable sessions at the local rock gym. Not a bad start, I’d say! There were a lot of folks that assumed we’d stop climbing once C was born (but then again they thought that when I was pregnant also…).

10/5/10 - So it's been a while since I’ve posted a blog up here. Turns out having a baby is time-consuming… who knew? Canaan is turning into quite the crag baby—so far, he has been on four weekend trips to the New River Gorge, West Virginia, spent two weekends bouldering at Grayson Highlands, Virginia, two day trips climbing at Pilot Mountain, North Carolina, and most recently partook in one of the most anticipated weekends of the year for climbers in the Southeast—the Hound Ears Bouldering Competition in Boone, North Carolina!

6/4/10 - Well, not that it was any sort of surprise, but my husband and I didn’t quite make it all the way through our 4-6 week break from climbing after the baby was born – we were two days shy of 4 weeks before we hit our local gym, Triangle Rock Club. One of the routesetters had named a route in honor of my brand-new son, so of course we had to try it out before it got taken down! Getting back to the gym felt amazing, and I was pleasantly surprised at how good my body felt postpartum!
