In a stellar couple of days of climbing at Rumney, New Hampshire, 14-year-old Daniel Woods climbed his second 5.14 and flashed his first 5.13. On October 24, the youth from Longmont, Colorado, flashed the three-bolt problem Bottom Feeder (5.13a). The next day, on his fourth attempt, he redpointed Dr. No (5.14a), the most frequently repeated 5.14 at Rumney. He also redpointed Stone Monkey (5.13b) that day. Woods, who started leading climbs in 1998, climbed his first 5.14a, the 7 P.M. Show at Rifle, Colorado, in early July. He finished second in the 14-15 age group at the Youth World Championships in Bulgaria this fall.
