Five trips up the Clean Dan Memorial
On September 14–16, 2007 at the Royal Gorge Bridge near Canon City, Colorado speed demons Brian Gallant and Aaron Simmons climbed the Clean Dan Memorial (5.11b) five times over three days in the Go Fast Games. The event also features BASE Jumping off the bridge.
Hank Caylor bolted the eight-pitch, 1,000-foot route in 2004 for the Go Fast Games Big Wall Speed Climbing Competition, which Gallant and Mike Johnson took first place in that year with a time of 1hr and 12min. No competition has been held on it since 2004.

This year there was only a climbing demonstration [not a competition], thus Gallant and Simmons tried to climb the route as much as possible. They climbed it twice on Friday, twice on Saturday and once on Sunday for a total of 5,000 feet of loose schist and granite. Gallant now has a total of nine ascents of the route. Unfortunately, the climb is only open during the Go Fast Games, and is off limits any other time due to the loose rock. A train goes directly underneath the climb at the base of the canyon.
