Amputee Ronnie Dickson Boulders V9

11/15/13 - Ronnie Dickson, a 26-year-old above-knee amputee from Florida, sent Dragon Turns (V9) in the Shawangunks of New York after three days of effort. The problem was Dickson's hardest yet, and he is believed to be the second leg amputee in the U.S. to boulder V9, after Craig DeMartino.

Dickson, who works as a prosthetist, chose to have his leg amputated as a teenager after suffering from a congenital bone disorder. (Click here to see the Louder than 11 film about his story.) In December, Dickson is traveling to Joe's Valley, Utah, to try to climb his first V10.

Watch the short video below, by Mark Profeta, of Dickson's send.

Date of ascent: October 2013

Wow, nice job. I climbed briefly with this guy at Sender One last Friday, had no idea, such a humble guy. Built his own prosthetic even from a mountain bike shock, I'm surprised the article didn't mention that.
