5/4/11 – Joshua Lavigne and Raphael Slawinski climbed a beautiful new mixed route on the north face of Mt. Patterson in the Canadian Rockies on May Day, to the right of the famous Riptide ice climb.

Slawinski had spotted the new line when he climbed the nearby Rocket Man in early April. The 1,000-foot new route, Tsunami (M5 WI5+), takes three pitches of of scrappy mixed ground and snow to a sustained ice runnel dripping from the serac band atop the face. Lavigne and Slawinski climbed through the serac and then rappelled the route.
