3/24/11 – Sasha DiGiulian redpointed Lucifer today at the Purgatory, Red River Gorge, making the route’s first female ascent. She only needed six attempts to climb the route—same number of attempts as Southern Smoke (5.14c).

This is her second 5.14c in a week. (Read about her Southern Smoke send here.)

Earlier this week, she onsighted Omaha Beach (5.14a) and Last of the Bohicans (5.13d).

Mike Doyle made the first ascent in 2006. From the guidebook: "To the right of Dracula ’04. Climb relatively easy moves to the third bolt then bust left through a V7 boulder problem to reach a quick shake at the fourth bolt. Recharge then boulder through a more difficult section to reach a moderate rest at the fifth bolt. From the fifth, endure the redpoint run to the break. At the break, ponder on what a bad ass mofo you are, then finish it up."

Below, see how the route climbs with Chris Sharma’s ascent.
