New Board of DIrectors to Lead 2010 Promotional Efforts

Durango, Colorado — The Durango Independent Film Festival (DIFF) has officially launched the promotional efforts for the 2010 Film Festival. This year's festival will be held in Durango from Wednesday, March 3rd through Sunday, March 7th, 2010. Created by Lisa Morales Eccher, the theme and poster creative for this 5th anniversary of the festival is "Get Reel" — and features a fly-fishing rod with a reel of film in place of the fishing rod's reel, and a film strip replacing the fishing line.

"We loved the metaphor that this creative capitalized on," said Joanie Fraughton, the festival's Executive Director. "The lure of film, so to speak, is what our festival is all about....but our purpose is also to lure people to come to Durango and enjoy the festival and all that this area has to offer," she added.

Fraughton also announced the Festival's seven member board of directors, led by Julie Cooley as Board Chair. Cooley is Vice President, Mortgage Department at First National Bank of Durango. The remaining officer positions within the board are filled by:

Wally White as Vice Chair. White is a La Plata County Commissioner.

Greg Weiss as Treasurer and Finance Committee Lead. Weiss is the Board Chair of the Four Corners Gay and Lesbian Alliance for Diversity.

Lisa Marie Jacobs as Secretary and Development Committee Lead. Jacobs is a self-employed graphic designer and grant writer.

The three remaining board seats belong to Robert Baker, Independent Digital Media Designer for Spuda Mu usaci Multimedia; Margy Dudley, Owner of the Open Shutter Gallery in Durango; and Benjamin Martinez, General Manager and Photographer with Thru the Lens Photography of Durango.

According to Fraughton, DIFF has contracted with Chimera Communications, Inc., a Durango marketing firm to promote the 2010 festival with a significantly broad stroke. "Early bird passes are already available online for purchase. "The early bird gets the worm and the good deal this year," joked Fraughton. "We're also announcing some fun new packages we're calling Reel Deal packages, dinner and a film festival, Films on the Fly and more. It will be an exciting year, and we are hoping to draw fantastic films, get great exposure for our sponsors, and increase our viewing audience numbers."
