8/15/11 - Shawn Raboutou has climbed Welcome to Tijuana (5.14b) in Rodellar, Spain, marking the 13-year-old's first climb of the grade. Raised by hardcore climbers and former world champions Robyn Erbesfield-Raboutou and Didier Raboutou, Shawn has been climbing in Europe with his family this summer.

Earlier this summer, Shawn climbed Persifleur (5.13+) and Quick and Toast (5.14a), while his 10-year-old sister, Brooke, climbed Bad Attitude (5.13c), all in France. Brooke had previously climbed 5.13d, Swingline, at the Red River Gorge, Kentucky.

Both kids are part of the ABC climbing program, which stands for Agility, Balance, and Coordination. Inside the ABC program is an invitation-only team, coached by Robyn, that stands for "America's Best Climbers." Shawn and Brooke have been a part of the team since they were about three. The team travels around the country and world to climb outside in addition to training indoors.

Ukclimbing.com has a good interview with both Shawn and Robyn.

Date of ascent: August 2011
