Two 5.14 Flashes in a Day
By Dougald MacDonald

Proving you don’t have to be a teenager to remain at the top of the sport, Serik Kazbekov, 34, had an amazing day at Covolo, Italy, last week. According to www.freakclimbing.com, the Kazakh climber flashed the route Shalom (5.14a) and onsighted Ghegoro, which had been graded 5.13d/14a but is considered solid 5.14a after a hold broke. Kazbekov, who has been climbing for nearly two decades, is ranked eighth in the world in competition climbing.
