Just weeks after Petzl's RocTrip (July 23-27, 2008) at Zillertal it was announced that this alpine jewel of Austria is to be destroyed and used for construction materials. Because the granite there is very valuable, local companies plan to harvest the Ginzling and Zillergrundwald areas, changing the Zillertal from a pristine alpine environment to a quarry. Climber action is needed to preserve this area for future generations. Interested climbers can write a letter of protest at the StoneMonkeys website.

This beautiful area is located 70 kilometers southeast of Innsbruck, Austria, and the formations provide climbs of all grades, on perfect red, white, and gray granite, that rest below the über-historic mountaineering of the Tyrolean Alps.
