French Take Bouldering Crowns

By Dougald MacDonald

Sandrine Levet and Daniel Du Lac of France are the 2004 bouldering World Cup champions. Levet closed out her season in style, taking the final World Cup comp of the year in steamy heat in Houzou, China. Levet won an amazing five out of the six World Cup bouldering events this year, to take her second overall title in a row.

Du Lac, meanwhile, won only two World Cup comps in 2004, but he was consistently on or near the podium. Neither Du Lac nor Kilian Fischhuber of Austria, No. 2 for the 2004 season, finished in the top three in China, but they came close enough to end the year on top. Jérôme Myer of France, last year’s World Cup champion, won the Chinese competition.
