On December 7, Dave Graham climbed what is likely the third ascent of Siurana, Spain's A Muerte (5.14c/d), a route opened in March 2006 by Richard Simpson of the United Kingdom. Approximately 65 feet in length, A Muerte involves sustained, difficult pocket moves on overhanging limestone. Spanish for "to the death," A Muerte stood as a project for nearly ten years before it saw a first ascent by Simpson. It has since been repeated by Edu Marin of Spain, and took Graham approximately nine attempts to complete.

Graham's exploits in Spain started in November with redpoints of two 5.13d's (one flashed, the other second attempt) and two 5.14b's (Ingravid Serps and Dos por Trenta) outside of Barcelona. Graham has recently come off an injury to the palm of his hand which kept him sidelined for nearly four months this summer.
