Berger Dies in Ice Climbing Accident

Austrian climber Hari Berger was killed while ice climbing in an ice cave near Hintersee Flachachau, Austria, on Wednesday, December 20, after approximately 150 tons of ice collapsed, burying the Austrian World Champion during training.

He most recently made news, here, in Hot Flashes for his team ascent in Madagascar of Short Cut (5.13a) on the granite wall of Tsaranoro Be. Berger is an accomplished ice climber, establishing difficult routes around the world, and also a three time world champion ice climber.
