Newslink: On June 22, Alex Honnold did a solo link-up of the Regular Northwest Face (5.12a, 23 pitches) of Half Dome and the Nose (5.9, C1, 31 pitches), breaking several Yosemite speed records. He raced up Half Dome in 2:09 and the Nose in 5:59, climbing about 5,000 feet total.

Honnold is known for his fearless free soloes, such as the Moonlight Buttress (V 5.12d, 1,200 feet) in Zion, and Astroman (5.11c, 10 pitches) and the Rostrum (5.11c, 8 pitches) in a single day.

Honnold carried a thin rack, short rope (which he never used), and small backpack up Half Dome, and a larger rack and 60-meter rope (which he broke out at the King Swing and Great Roof) on the Nose.

His time breaks the speed records for both routes, the solo link-up, and partner link-up.
