Hubers Shave More Time From Nose Record

Alexander and Thomas Huber have completed their second record-breaking climb of the Nose of El Capitan, climbing the 31-pitch route in 2 hours 45 minutes 45 seconds. This was nearly three minutes faster than the mark they set on October 4, when they broke a five-year-old record by just 20 seconds. The Bavarian brothers had been attempting for the past three years to break the record set in 2002 by Hans Florine and Yuji Hirayama.

Evans describes a heart-stopping moment when Alex Huber, leading the overhanging Harding Bolt Ladder at the top of the route, slipped and hung by one arm from a sling, with an 80-foot loop of slack in the lead rope below him.
