Canadian Sean McColl finished third at a World Cup lead competition in Imst, Austria, his second top-five finish this month. The 21-year-old from North Vancouver, B.C., is ranked fifth in this year’s World Cup standings the best season for a North American climber in many years. McColl is an unusual competitor because he excels at both lead climbing and bouldering. Earlier this year, he finished second in a bouldering World Cup in Austria, and at the World Championships in China he was fifth in lead climbing, sixth in bouldering, and 43rd in speed, giving him the combined overall championship at the event. McColl also took third at a World Cup in Imst in 2008. He was ranked ninth overall in the 2008 season. American Sasha Digiulian made the semifinal in the women’s comp at Imst, finishing in 17th place. Tiffany Hensley was 28th, and Paige Claassen 29th. Results Men
