Britons Mick Fowler and Paul Ramsden have made the first ascent of Menamcho (6,264 meters) in the Nyainqentanglha East Range of Tibet. The two climbed the Northwest Ridge in a seven-day round-trip from base camp. Fowler said the route was about TD (Alpine grade) in difficulty.

Steve Burns and Ian Cartwright, meanwhile, made the first ascent of an unnamed 5,935-meter peak in the same area. The climb took four days round-trip and was graded AD.

In October 2005, Fowler climbed nearby Kajaqiao (6,447 meters) with Chris Watts. During that same expedition, Phil Amos and Adam Thomas reached about 5,880 meters on the Northwest Ridge of Menamcho before retreating in high winds and severe cold.
