1/28/11 - News link: Today in Fontainebleau, Lucas Ménégatti bagged the second ascent of The Big Island, a V15 extension to Dave Graham's The Island (V14), put up by Vincent Pochon in early 2010. Ménégatti climbed The Island in November.
The Big Island adds two moves to the original Island, "just enough to make you pumped to get to the crux that revolves around one heel," Ménégatti says on his blog. All this week, Ménégatti had been getting close to sending (watch his progress below). According to kairn.com, he decided at the last minute to make one more attempt, sending the problem.
"Very psyched!" he said on his 8a.nu scorecard.
"About the grade, I'm not sure. Time will tell. Fit my style perfectly."
