Oddo Nabs 4th Ascent of Ambrosia (V11)

By Amanda Fox

2/17/11 - Enzo Oddo, a 15-year-old French crusher, has repeated Kevin Jorgeson's Ambrosia (V11), in the Buttermilks, making the fourth ascent of the 45-foot-tall highball/free solo (after Jorgeson, Alex Honnold, and Isaac Caldiero). Oddo bouldered out the bottom section and rehearsed the upper half on toprope before making the send. He used the direct start that Caldiero added on his third ascent.

Jorgeson first topped out Ambrosia in January 2009 and didn't set a grade to it at first because of its height. Almost a year later, Honnold nabbed the second ascent, figuring out easier beta and suggesting V10/11 for the lower section. In December 2010, Ben Ditto broke off a big foothold, which makes the opening moves significantly harder.

Date of ascent: February 15, 2011
