New Englanders Dave Sharratt and Freddie Wilkinson climbed a new route up the South Face of Aguja Poincenot, a neighbor of Fitz Roy in Patagonia. The two reached the summit in a day and a half, climbing 17 new pitches on the South Face, with difficulties up to 5.11 A1 on icy, poor rock and wide cracks. Above this, they followed the 1968 Fonrouge Route for about 1,600 feet to the top. They descended via Southern Cross. In all, the route ascends about 3,800 vertical feet.
