American Ethan Pringle has climbed Realization (5.15a, aka Biographie) at Ceüse, France, making the fifth ascent of the landmark climb. Pringle had been working on the climb for about a month. He did the 5.14c first half of the route in three tries, and stuck the crux of the full pitch on his seventh try, but he then fell just short of the anchors during numerous attempts. An alternative hold for the final sequence gained him what’s probably the fastest ascent of the route.

Realization was first climbed by Chris Sharma in 2001 and has been repeated by Sylvain Millet (France), Patxi Usobiaga (Spain), and, earlier this year, Dave Graham from the U.S.

Date of Ascent: September 2, 2007
