Puccio Takes Down V12 in Magic Wood

By Amanda Fox

5/2/11 - Alex Puccio climbed Jack's Broken Heart (V12) and The Right Hand of Darkness (V11) in Magic Wood, Switzerland, today. "Amazing," she said about Jack's. "Scary first move and a bit of a scary top. Perfect boulder!" The ascent took her only a few tries. This marks her 10th V12 send.

Puccio has been climbing in Europe and living in Innsbruck, Austria. She recently competed in the first Bouldering World Cup of 2011 in Milan, where she placed sixth in finals. Two days later, she won a unique competition in which five males and five females were invited to attend. Each climber set his or her own problem and then had an hour to attempt all five problems.

Puccio plans to compete in the Bouldering World Cup in Slovenia this coming weekend (May 7 and 8) alongside Alex Johnson (who took eighth in Milan).

Date of ascents: May 2, 2011
