Rodden Redpoints Anaconda
By David Schmidt

In early August Beth Rodden-Caldwell repointed Lumpy Ridge’s Anaconda (5.13b/c), her second hardest crack climb to date. Rodden-Caldwell worked the route over a period of a few months (it was closed due to peregrine falcon nesting in late spring and early summer), and was belayed by her husband, Tommmy Caldwell. Rodden-Caldwell’s ascent was the third time that Anaconda has been dispatched sans aid (previously freed by Alan Lester and Tommy Caldwell), and was the first female free ascent. Check out Issue #244’s Hot Flashes report for photos and more info.
