Sharma Climbs Hard New 9a+ in Spain

News Link: Chris Sharma has redpointed a 50-meter new route at Oliana, Spain, that he called Pachamama (9a+/5.15a). Sharma said the route is “very pumpy and psychological,” and is harder than the neighboring Papichulo (9a+, also a Sharma FA) and other Spanish 5.15a routes he has repeated, but he’s not sure it merits the 5.15b rating.

See Momentumvm.com for big photos and more about the climb in Sharma’s own words

Date of Ascent: May 2009
