News Link: Spanish climber Edurne Pasaban has summited Shishapangma, completing a decade-long effort to climb all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks. Pasaban, 37, reached the main summit of the 8,013-meter (26,289') peak in Tibet with an international team. It was her fifth attempt on the mountain, which, although the lowest of the 8,000ers, has a long summit ridge that often defeats efforts to reach the true top.

Earlier this spring, Pasaban summited Annapurna in Nepal, the 13th peak on her list. Shortly afterward, Korean climber Oh Eun-sun reached the top of Annapurna and became the first woman to claim summits of all 14 8,000ers.
