9/27/11 - Ben Spannuth has finished Chris Sharma's Era Bella (5.14d) in Margalef, Spain. "Full mental battle after falling off the top then failing to get back through the crux," he said on his scorecard. "When dani andrada yells 'Venga!' you climb a muerte. Gacias [to] Will for the ridiculously long working belays. Back to the tufas!"

Spannuth apparently climbed the route his first attempt of the day after warming up on Dr. Feelgood (5.13b). While in Spain, he has also climbed Cosi Fan Tutte (5.14c), Pata Negra (5.14b), and Flash Over (5.14a).

Era Bella was put up in May 2010 by Sharma. It has been repeated by such climbers as Adam Ondra and Enzo Oddo.

Spannuth will be competing at the Lead World Cup in Boulder, Colorado, at Movement Climbing + Fitness on October 8 and 9. Read how he's preparing for the comp here!
