Maine Woman Climbs 5.14

Eliza Sprecher, 26, of Portland, Maine, has redpointed Strict Scrutiny (5.14a) at Rumney, New Hampshire. This was the first female ascent of the sustained, technical face climb. Sprecher worked on the route for about 10 days last fall but was shut down by the onset of wet weather. Strict Scrutiny is an extension to Dark Star (5.13c/d), one of several 5.13 routes Sprecher did in New England last year.
