Nalle Hukkataival, 22, of Helsinki, Finland, has been making quick work of many boulder problems at Hueco Tanks, Texas, including the first flash of Fred Nicole’s classic Full Monty (V12). He also established a new V13 with Jon Cardwell named The Machinist; the line, at the East Spur, involves long moves out of a big roof — about 25 moves total, in fact. Cardwell immediately made the first repeat.

This trip marks Hukkataival’s first trip to Hueco tanks. Other notable sends include Right Martini (V12), a flash of Barefoot on Sacred Ground (V12), Full Throttle (V13), Algerita (V13), a flash of Le Pelerin (V12), a flash of Diaphanous Sea (V12), and Alma Blanca (V13). No stranger to hard US bouldering, Hukkataival in June 2008 made quick work of the hardest problems at Colorado’s Mount Evans, including Ode to the Modern Man (V14) and a flash of No More Greener Grass (V12).
