Images of Bachar Soloing to Benefit John's Medical Expenses

Many of you may be aware the John Bachar broke his neck in a tragic vehicle accident recently. Just when things are bad enough already, somebody sends you a huge bill.

There are quite a few folks trying to raise funds to help John and his family through a tough time.  I encourage folks to participate and give however they can.

In trying to do my part, I'm donating the proceeds from sales (after printing and postage) of images of Bachar soloing in Joshua Tree from my website to John for his medical bills.  Go to
www.peaklightimages.com
and click on the Bachar Photo Benefit link at the bottom of the page.
That will take you to my online photo galleries. The images of John are in
gallery 07-Climbing.

Peace and Healing,

Dear Friends,

As many of you have already heard, John Bachar and his friend and business partner, Steve Karafa, were involved in a car incident on the way home from the trade show in Salt Lake City a few weeks ago.  Steve Karafa died in the accident.   John was air flighted back to Salt Lake City where he was told that he had broken 4 vertebrae.  One of the broken vertebrae is in his neck at C1/C2.  Because of the location of the break he is now forced to wear a rigid cervical collar for some time to come.  He returned to Los Angeles to stay with family and since has been told that the doctors want to operate and fuse some of the broken vertebrae.

For many, including myself, John and his climbing accomplishments have been an inspiration.  Many of us started climbing because of John.  Not only is he our local legend but also he is a part of climbing history.

John needs our help now.   Many people all over the world have been buying Acopa shoes, sending money through pay pal and planning fundraisers in their local parts of the country.

In Mammoth, John's home base, the Fundraiser will take place on Sept 15th at the Events Plaza in the Village at Mammoth.  Peter Croft will be giving a slide show and a silent auction and raffle will be taking place as well. More details will be announced as some of the planning is finished up.  We are expecting many of John's friends to come out and help raise money for the Local Legend
