Jimmy Webb Wins La Sportiva Legends Only 2013

12/3/13 - On November 30, six of the world’s top climbers gathered in Stockholm, Sweden, for the third annual La Sportiva Legends Only bouldering competition, where American Jimmy Webb took top honors.

For 2013, a group of Swedish route-setters, including guest route-setter Mélissa Le Nevé from France, planned four distinctive and wildly challenging problems varying from V12 to V15. On November 29, the competitors were allowed a three-hour practice session beforehand.

In the Legends Only competition, the number of attempts a climber makes is not as important as in a World Cup event. Instead, the competition focuses on number of topouts, attempts, number of bonus holds reached, and attempts on bonus holds.

The participants this year included Sean McColl, Dmitry Sharafutdinov, Jimmy Webb, Alexander Megos, Nalle Hukkataival, and Jan Hojer.

Jimmy Webb beat out current Boulder World Cup winner Sharafutdinov, who placed second, and Hojer, another strong World Cup climber, who finished third.

I may have missed the point, but "the competition focuses on number of topouts, attempts, number of bonus holds reached, and attempts on bonus holds." is exactly how World Cup scoring works.
