Boulder, Colo. July 11, 2008 On July 16-20, climbers from all over North America will descend on Squamish, B.C. for the annual Squamish Mountain Festival. This gathering will highlight Squamish and climbing with a broad array of clinics, speakers, competitions, international adventure films, volunteer trail maintenance days, and tons of climbing.This year, La Sportiva will be involved through their sponsorship of the event. In addition, several La Sportiva athletes will be present, including Micah Dash, who will host a multimedia presentation on July 19 at 7pm.Micah Dash will speak about his wild adventure in Indian Kashmir and the epic first ascent of the Shafat Fortress with Jonny Copp. The multimedia presentation also includes hard free-climbing in Indian Creek, Utah, and big wall free-climbing in Yosemite Valley.Last year the Squamish Mountain Festival was able to raise more than $10,000 to support the Squamish Access Society (SAS) and Climbers Access Society of B.C. The Festival organizers and attendees were also able to complete an amazing amount of work and maintenance on local trails around the Squamish Chief.This year, organizers expect the event to be just as successful, with more events, clinics and presentations on the schedule than ever before.
