11/17/14 - Canadian Sean McColl finished second at the final lead World Cup of the year, in Kranj, Sloevnia, and in the process sealed a silver medal for the full World Cup season. The runner-up finish is the 27-year-old’s best ever full-season result, despite not winning a single World Cup event in 2014. McColl is ranked third in the world in lead climbing and has previously finished fourth and fifth on the World Cup circuit. In 2013 he was third for the World Cup bouldering season.

In September, McColl repeated a feat he first achieved in 2012, winning the combined world championship ranking by finishing sixth in lead climbing, ninth in bouldering, and 26th in speed at the world championship events, held in Germany and Spain.

Czech climber Adam Ondra, the 2014 world champion in both lead and bouldering, won the final lead World Cup in Kranj. Slovenian Mina Markovic won the women’s comp.
