Megos Repeats Corona (5.15a) in Frankenjura
5/14/13 - The 19-year-old Alexander Megos has climbed Corona (5.15a) in the Frankenjura, Germany.
Fellow German Markus Bock established Corona in 2006, and Adam Ondra repeated it in 2009. Megos, who set a new standard in March with the world's first onsight of a 5.14d route, has been cranking hard route after hard route; in April, he established a 5.15a in the Frankenjura he called Classified. Corona makes his third of the grade (La Rambla was the first, in March).
The 60-foot-long Corona is one of the hardest routes in the area—it was the first of its grade in the Frankenjura. Megos finished it in only three days, after about 10 attempts.
