5/19/04 - Teva Mountain Games held in Vail Colorado is the largest celebration of mountain sports and culture in the United States. Professional and amateur athletes from around the world will compete in bouldering, mountain biking, whitewater paddling, and cross-country running - the event is the GORE-TEX USA trail running championship. 5/18/04 - Petzl, a leading manufacturer of quality climbing and rescue equipment, recently launched a new section of Petzl.com dedicated to providing consumers with quality inspection and recordkeeping tools for PPE. 5/12/04 - Panagrafik, a leading branding, communications and design firm, announced today the launch of a newly developed web site for the leader in sport climbing, EP USA Inc. EP, an innovator in the climbing industry is now becoming a leader online. 5/10/04 - Seattle-based Climbing Community Launches Climbers4Kerry Campaign The Seattle-based rock climbing community has launched a grassroots, nationwide campaign to help John Kerry become president. 5/06/04 - Once again, the PCA will assemble the world’s best competition climbers for a spectacular show and an all-out battle for a share of the $10,000 purse. Event dates are set for May 13 – 15. 4/30/04 - We have recently become aware of a problem with some of the pins (rivets) on our quickdraw and X-comp carabiners. A few carabiners have been discovered with pins that are not properly peened over. 4/28/04 - The American Alpine Club, MSR, Therm-a-Rest and Platypus jointly awarded $22,000 in Lyman Spitzer climbing grants and gear to support cutting-edge expeditions attempting bold first ascents in Pakistan, Greenland, China and India. 4/28/04 - San Francisco, the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ordered the National Park Service to halt, “any and all projects developed in reliance upon the invalid CMP [Comprehensive Plan for the Merced River]. 4/05/04 - The Access Fund has just released Bouldering: Understanding and Managing Climbing on Small Rock Formations. The Third Annual Kickin’ Access tours is underway currently touring the west and coming to a climbing gym or shop near you. 8/18/03 - Backers of a Yosemite climbing museum are urging other climbers to let the National Park Service know whether they want the museum and an expansion of the historic climber’s campground, Camp 4. 8/01/03 - Carbondale, Colorado. Climbing Magazine in conjunction with Avery Brewing Company once again is presenting the Rifle Mountain Park Climber Clean–Up, starting at 9:00 am on Saturday, August 23. 7/23/03 - Carbondale, CO CLIMBING Magazine is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeff Achey as Editor. 6/02/03 - "On the big screen; that's the way climbing films should be seen," said Ivan Greene, who flew out to Salt Lake City from New York for the premier of “The Road,” as presented by Climbing Magazine. 5/23/03 - Carbondale, Colo. Climbing Magazine is pleased to announce the hiring of John Viehman as the new Publisher. 5/21/03 - The first annual New River Gorge Climbers Rendezvous, put on by the New River Alliance of Climbers (NRAC), went off without a hitch on May 16 through 18, despite weather that turned sour on Saturday morning and stayed wet for the duration. 5/19/03 - The Mugs Stump Award has announced the recipients of the $15,000 total to be given out this year. 5/19/03 - The entire issue is devoted to showcasing the best photographers and most outrageous photographs in the sport of climbing.
