Five College Outdoor Festival Amherst, Massachusetts March 2 and 3, 2007 Hampshire and Amherst College Campus’

The The Western Massachusetts Climber's Coalition (WMCC) is a local, non-profit volunteer climbers' organization that works to build cohesive relationships with advocacy groups, state and local governments, landowners, and conservation groups to keep climbing areas open and conserve the climbing environment in Western Massachusetts. is now pursuing its first land acquisition.

Farley Ledge is surrounded by private property complicating parking and access issues for years. A 9-acre parcel directly abutting Farley Ledge will be going up for sale this spring. We have identified portions of the parcel that would allow for the establishment of a permanent and sustainable parking area and access trail hopefully owned and managed by the WMCC. Help us reach our goal marking the biggest development in preservation of climbing in Western Mass.

GOAL:
Raise $75,000 by spring to purchase the Lehman parcel.

OBJECTIVES:
Establish permanent and sustainable parking area and access trail.
Preserve natural buffer between Farley and Route 2.
Limit potential development within parcel.

This year’s Friday night program will be world famous climbers Beth Rodden and Tommy Caldwell who will present: Mission ‘Possible’: Free Climbing two El Cap routes in a day.  Saturday’s activities include: climbing seminars with Nick and Heather Sagar, authors of ‘How to Climb Your Best’, cycling training with Jay Gump, kayaking with Zoar Outdoor and a climbing fun ‘competition.  The Telluride Mountainfilm Festival will culminate Saturday’s events.
