Swiss Technology Award 2008: Coldblack one of nine outstanding Swiss developments

Sevelen, December 2008: Within the framework of the SWISS INNOVATION FORUM held in November in Basel, coldblack®, the latest Schoeller® technology, was honored as one of nine outstanding Swiss developments. The Swiss Technology Award is the leading technology and innovation prize in Switzerland. It specifically promotes innovations and presents annual awards to the most innovative companies and institutions. The vision that led to coldblack® was an “invisible shield protecting the body from the negative influences of the sun”, similar to a function of the ozone layer, which absorbs UV rays and reflects infrared rays back into space. Today, in particular, with climatic conditions subject to rapid change and solar rays becoming increasing aggressive, it is important to cover the skin with a protective layer. “We were among the finalists in Switzerland with coldblack®, and in the USA our technology has also just won a major prize”, report the delighted Hans-Jürgen Hübner (left) and Hans U. Kohn from Schoeller. coldblack® offers double protection from the sun: The technology prevents the textiles heating up and provides reliable protection from UV rays.

The Swiss Technology Award was launched in 1987 by the businessmen Branko Weiss and Nicolas G. Hayek, taken over in 2007 by the Swiss Economic Forum AG and distributed for the first time during Swiss Innovation Forum. In total, around 1600 projects and companies have been submitted for the Swiss Technology Award in the last 20 years and 364 prize-winners announced.
