Thrill seekers are being offered the chance to put their adventurous natures to good use. Ethical volunteer organisation, Global Vision International (GVI), is offering volunteers the chance to join their new Patagonia Research and Exploration expedition which promises amazing mountain adventures while working on a vital conservation and wildlife research project. The five or ten week adventures are non-stop, as volunteers will get the unique opportunity to explore various regions of Patagonia where they can: master ice-climbing, develop snow craft skills, learn how to traverse glaciers, explore volcanoes and experience the gaucho lifestyle by horse. GVI Patagonia Field Director Stephen Meyer comments: “Our Patagonia expedition is a great way for volunteers to channel their energies into a great cause. Volunteers will be able to conduct research, which we give to our local partners, providing them with valuable knowledge about Patagonia’s various ecosystems and supporting the conservation of its fragile habitat and wildlife”. GVI, who is celebrating their tenth birthday this year, has also launched four other new programs in Patagonia this year that include: attending a snow school and climbing to the summit of Tronador - a volcano with a 3,478ft peak, a Kayak skills course that includes route-finding, rescue and rolling, as well as two mountaineering courses that aim to teach students the required skills to lead their own expeditions. Stephen continues: “Patagonia is the destination for adrenalin junkies and people who are interested in fitness - it’s definitely where you’ll find GVI’s most physically-demanding activities.” For more information on GVI’s Patagonia expedition and projects, please visit GVI’s newly designed website at www.gviusa.com or call 1 888 653 6028
