6/4/12 – The fifth stop in the 2012 Bouldering World Cup tour wrapped up June 2 in Vail, Colorado, at the 11th annual Teva Mountain Games. About 20,000 people watched live on ifsc.tv as Austrians Anna Stöhr and Kilian Fischhuber stood atop the podium for the second time in a rowthis year.Problems for men and women had a wide range of styles, from balancey moves to sideways dynos to even double hand jams. Stöhr was the only woman to top all four finals problems, easily securing first place. Fischhuber narrowly beat Sean McColl, who finished second; both men finished four problems, but Fischhuber had fewer attempts. Jan Hojer had an impressive showing, flashing the first three men’s finals problems, but his no-send on number 4 put him in third.

Shauna Coxsey grabbed the silver for the women, followed closely by Juliane Wurm, who led the women going into finals. Americans Alex Johnson and Alex Puccio finished fourth and fifth, respectively; all four women topped three of the problems.

McColl was the only North American male who made finals. Other USA finishes: Daniel Woods (10th); Carlo Traversi (17th); Matty Hong (18th); Alex Fritz (19th); Josh Larson (20th); Michael O’Rourke (22nd); Alex Johnson (23rd); Matt Wilder (26th); Josh Levin (28th); Zach Lerner (29th); Michael Bautista (33rd); Austin Geiman (38th); Ethan Pringle (40th); and Garrett Gregor (43rd). Female USA finishes included: Cicada Jenerk (13th); Lizzy Asher (14th); Angie Payne (17th); Chauncenia Cox (18th); Sierra Blair-Coyle (19th); Tiffany Hensley (21st); Nina Williams (24th); Tyler Youngwerth (26th); Delaney Miller (30th); and Jesse Youngwerth (34th).

With her two consecutive wins, Stöhr has edged into a solid first place in rankings, followed by Shauna Coxsey. Akiyo Noguchi fell to third place, followed by Mina Markovic, Puccio, and Melissa Le Neve. Fischhuber and Rustam Gelmanov are tied for first in the men’s rankings, followed by Jakob Schubert, Guillaume Glairon Mondet, Dmitry Sharafutdinov, and Sean McColl.
